Managed Switch Ubiquiti UniFi USW-PRO-8-POE
The Ubiquiti UniFi USW-PRO-8-POE is a managed Layer 2/Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switch with eight RJ-45 ports that support Power over Ethernet (PoE). Designed in a compact 1U form factor and finished in white, the switch provides a switching capacity of 56 Gbit/s and supports both 10/100/1000 Mbps on copper ports. Compliance with IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at standards enables delivery of PoE and PoE+ power to connected devices, while the USW-PRO-8-POE also offers higher-power PoE++ capability for demanding equipment. The device combines traffic management, VLANs and Layer 3 features with power delivery in a single managed switch suitable for small to medium deployments.
The USW-PRO-8-POE integrates managed switching features and PoE power delivery in one compact unit, simplifying network deployment and reducing the need for separate power injectors. With eight Gigabit RJ-45 ports and 10G support, it handles high-throughput traffic and uplinks while offering a 56 Gbit/s switching capacity for efficient packet forwarding. Compatibility with IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at plus PoE++ output provides flexibility to power IP phones, access points, cameras and other PoE devices. The white 1U chassis and 2.1 kg weight allow for easy rack or desktop placement where space is limited.
Install the switch in a rack or place it on a stable surface, ensuring proper ventilation and access to power. Connect network devices to the RJ-45 ports using Cat5e or higher cabling to achieve Gigabit speeds. Enable PoE delivery on required ports through the UniFi Network Controller or the device management interface to power compatible devices such as access points and IP phones. Configure VLANs, link aggregation and Layer 3 settings as needed via the management software to segment traffic and optimize network performance. For uplinks to core switches or servers, use the 10G-capable ports or SFP+ modules if supported by your network design.
Use Cat5e or Cat6 cabling for reliable Gigabit performance and choose ports for PoE power delivery according to the power requirements of connected devices. Monitor PoE budget in the UniFi controller to avoid overloading the switch’s available power. Place the switch in a temperature-controlled environment and allow clearance for airflow to maintain optimal operation.
