Masking tape VALLEJO Softouch Velvet Masking Tape 2 — 6 mm x 25 m
VALLEJO Softouch Velvet Masking Tape 2 is a narrow 6 mm wide, 25 m long masking tape engineered for precise protection of model surfaces during painting and detailing. The softouch velvet texture conforms to small radii and irregular shapes, reducing paint bleed and allowing accurate edge definition on scale models, miniature parts and finely detailed assemblies. Designed for controlled application in airbrush and brush painting, this tape balances adhesion and removability to protect finished surfaces without leaving residue when removed correctly.
The tape’s soft velvet face reduces paint penetration at the tape edge and creates consistently sharp lines on narrow areas. Its 6 mm width is suitable for small masking tasks where precision is essential, while the 25 m length provides sufficient material for multiple projects. Adhesive strength is tuned to hold on typical modelling materials—plastic, resin and metal—yet permit clean removal when peeled slowly and at a low angle. The product supports detailed work such as camouflage, panel lining and multi-stage finishes without compromising surface quality.
Clean and dry the surface before applying the tape to ensure proper adhesion. Cut or tear the required length and press the tape down firmly along the edges to seal against paint penetration; use a burnishing tool or your fingertip for a tighter seal on curved or uneven areas. Apply successive layers or strips to cover larger sections, overlapping slightly if necessary. After painting, allow the paint to reach handling tack or dry according to the paint manufacturer’s instructions before removing the tape slowly at a low angle to avoid lifting the paint film.
For best results use on clean model surfaces and remove tape within a recommended timeframe after paint drying—testing on a scrap piece of the same substrate is advised when working with new paints or finishes. Avoid prolonged exposure in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures to maintain adhesive performance.
