VALLEJO Diorama FX Landscape Textures Mars Red (2–5 mm) - 26.306
VALLEJO Diorama FX Landscape Textures Mars Red (2–5 mm) is a ready-to-use terrain texture designed for creating coarse ground and rocky surfaces in dioramas, miniature bases and scale scenery. The Mars Red tone provides a warm, realistic earth color while the 2–5 mm grain size produces visible granularity and natural-looking rock fragments. This texture is formulated for hobbyists and modelers who need an easy-to-apply medium to build up relief, add surface detail and achieve realistic landscape effects without additional mixing.
This product comes pre-mixed and ready for immediate application, eliminating the need for grinding or sieving material. The 2–5 mm grain gives a pronounced texture that holds paint and washes well, supporting weathering and drybrushing techniques. The Mars Red pigment offers consistent coloration across batches, so large terrain areas remain visually uniform. The texture adheres to common basing substrates such as wood, foam, plaster and acrylic surfaces when secured with standard hobby glues or diluted PVA.
Apply the texture directly from the container onto a prepared substrate using a spatula, palette knife or sculpting tool. Spread and shape the material to build up relief or create rock formations; remove excess while still wet to refine edges. Allow the texture to dry fully before sanding or painting. For secure adhesion and extended durability, fix the texture with a diluted PVA or a suitable hobby adhesive where necessary. After drying, prime and finish with acrylic paints, washes and drybrushing to enhance details.
Work in thin layers when building height to avoid long drying times in the core. Test adhesion on a small sample when using unconventional substrates. Seal finished areas with a matte varnish for protection and to unify paint tones.
