The OM4 multimode fiber supports existing 1 and 10 Gbit/s installations and provides extended reach for 40 and 100 Gbit/s systems, enabling distances up to approximately 550 m at 10 Gbit/s for long building or medium campus backbones. With a laser bandwidth of 4700 MHz·km, the OM4 specification exceeds IEEE requirements for 10 Gbit/s over 300 m and is also suitable for short-reach links in data centres and high-performance computing environments.
