Console Server Vertiv Avocent ACS 8032MDAC
The Vertiv Avocent ACS 8032MDAC console server is an advanced, rack-mountable appliance that provides secure remote access and centralized management for serial devices in data centers and IT environments. It is built on a dual ARM core processor platform and includes redundant Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit fiber ports, a sensor port for environmental monitoring, and auto-sensing RS‑232 console ports to simplify connection to servers, switches, routers and power devices. The device runs an embedded Linux system and supports modern network standards including IPv6.
The ACS 8032MDAC combines redundant network interfaces and a dual-core processor for reliable, high-performance operation. Auto-sensing serial ports and automated discovery tools reduce setup time by identifying connected devices automatically. Built-in security features such as SSH, SNMP and WPA2-RADIUS support multiple access levels and comply with data center access policies. Integrated sensor connectivity, data logging and event monitoring enable environmental and operational oversight from a single console server.
Install the ACS 8032MDAC in a standard 19-inch rack and connect AC power (100–240 V). Attach network cables to the Gigabit Ethernet or fiber ports and connect target devices to the RS‑232 console ports; the auto-sensing ports will detect pin-out automatically. Connect any environmental sensors to the sensor port to enable monitoring and logging. Access the appliance through its management interface using SSH or web tools, configure user access levels and network settings according to your data center policies, and enable logging and discovery features to identify and organize connected devices.
Place the console server in a secure rack location and use redundant network links for critical deployments. Configure role-based access and strong authentication (for example, SSH keys and WPA2-RADIUS) and enable regular backups of configuration and log data. Use the automated discovery tool during initial setup to speed deployment and verify sensor connections for accurate environmental monitoring.
