Hand plane Vorel 25886, steel body, 200 mm length, single piece
Vorel 25886 hand plane with a steel body and a 200 mm length is a compact tool designed for smoothing, trimming and finishing wood surfaces. The metal construction and ground base ensure stable contact with the workpiece while the ergonomically positioned knob provides simple blade pressure adjustment. Supplied as a single unit, this hand plane is intended for light to medium carpentry tasks, edge planing, leveling small boards and finishing joinery work on solid wood, wood-based materials and certain plastics.
The steel body and 1.6 mm thick sheet-metal sole offer durable, low-deformation performance in regular workshop use. The manganese steel blade, hardened to approximately 50–55 HRC, delivers long-lasting edge retention and clean cutting action. A 42 mm cutting width and a 48 mm sole width give a balance between maneuverability and coverage, while the ground base helps maintain flatness during passes. The blade clamping and pressure knob allow straightforward blade setting and reversible blade orientation for using the front-cutting function.
Set the blade depth and secure it with the pressure knob so that only a small amount of blade protrudes from the sole for fine smoothing. Hold the plane with one hand on the front knob and the other on the rear body, keep the sole flat on the workpiece and push along the grain with steady, even strokes. For removing more material, increase blade exposure in small increments and make multiple passes. To use the front-cutting function, reverse the blade orientation following the manufacturer’s guidance and re-secure the blade. After use, retract the blade slightly and store the tool in a dry place to protect the cutting edge from corrosion and damage.
The hand plane performs best when used on straight, supported workpieces with the wood grain running in the cutting direction. Keep the blade sharp and inspect the ground base periodically; a well-set blade and flat sole produce smoother results and reduce the need for heavy cuts.
