Welding Electrodes Vorel 74311, rutile pink, 3.2 x 450 mm, 5 kg pack
Vorel 74311 rutile pink welding electrodes are coated stick electrodes designed for general-purpose welding of mild steel. Each electrode has a 3.2 mm diameter and 450 mm length; the pack contains 5 kg of electrodes. The rutile-based coating ensures stable arc ignition, easy slag removal and a smooth weld bead, making these electrodes suitable for workshop maintenance, repair tasks and light construction welding.
The rutile coating offers consistent arc starting and reduces spatter, allowing for better bead appearance and faster post-weld cleaning. The 3.2 x 450 mm size delivers a balance between deposition rate and control, appropriate for fillet and butt welds on thin to medium-thickness mild steel. Supplied in a 5 kg pack, the set is convenient for frequent use in small jobs and site maintenance.
Select appropriate welding current and polarity according to the electrode type and material thickness, and ensure clean joint surfaces before welding. Use correct electrode holder and ground clamp connections, strike the arc with a steady motion and maintain a consistent travel speed to obtain uniform bead appearance. After welding, remove slag with a chipping hammer and brush the weld to inspect for defects and to prepare for any finishing.
Store electrodes in a dry environment to avoid moisture pickup in the coating. If electrodes become damp, follow the manufacturer's guidance for drying before use. Use appropriate personal protective equipment—welding helmet, gloves and protective clothing—and ventilate the work area when welding.
