Scotch® Aluminium Tape 4701 (3M Highland 47011548) is an aluminium-backed repair tape designed for sealing and fixing metal surfaces such as gutters, pipes and vehicle bodies. The tape features a true aluminium foil backing and a strong adhesive that resists aging, UV light and harsh weather, allowing use both indoors and outdoors. It is 48 mm wide and 15 m long, silver-coloured and supplied as a single roll.

How to use

Clean and dry the repair area thoroughly to remove dirt, oil and loose corrosion. Cut or tear the required length of tape and press it firmly onto the surface, smoothing from the centre outwards to remove air pockets. Overlap edges where necessary to ensure a continuous seal. For best results, apply at room temperature and avoid stretching the tape during application.

Usage recommendations

Use for both indoor and outdoor metal repairs; not intended as a substitute for permanent structural welding. For long-term submerged repairs or where high mechanical stress occurs, evaluate a suitable mechanical or welded solution in addition to the tape.
