Fibre optic cable EFB Elektronik MTPM12LCOM4-0,4 0.4 m MTP to 12×LC OM4 violet
The EFB Elektronik MTPM12LCOM4-0,4 is a 0.4 m fibre optic breakout cable designed for short, high-density connections in data centres and telecom racks. One end features a multi-fibre MTP connector while the other end breaks out to 12 LC duplex connectors terminated on individual housings. The cable uses OM4 multimode fibre and a violet outer jacket to distinguish it from other multimode standards, providing reliable high-speed links between patch panels, transceivers and switches in confined spaces.
This breakout cable delivers compact connectivity with a very short 0.4 m length to reduce excess slack in cabinet-level patching. The OM4 multimode core supports higher bandwidth and extended reach compared with earlier multimode grades, making it suitable for 10GbE, 40GbE and 100GbE applications where multimode is specified. The MTP connector provides dense multi-fibre mating while the 12 LC terminations allow direct connection to LC ports without additional adapters or cassette modules. The violet jacket enables quick visual identification of OM4 links during installation and maintenance.
Route the cable carefully to avoid tight bends and mechanical stress; maintain the manufacturer’s minimum bend radius for OM4 multimode fibre. Insert the MTP connector into the matching MTP port on a cassette, trunk or transceiver until it latches, then connect the individual LC connectors into the corresponding LC ports on the patch panel or active device. Ensure connectors are clean before mating to prevent signal loss — use appropriate fibre cleaning tools and inspect endfaces if necessary. Secure the cable and manage strain relief using panel guides or cable management clips to prevent connector pull and maintain consistent optical performance.
For best performance, use this OM4 breakout cable within its intended short-reach environment and pair it with compatible MTP/MPO components and OM4-rated transceivers. Regularly inspect and clean connectors, avoid exceeding bend radius limits, and store spare cables coiled loosely to prevent microbending. When replacing or extending runs, match fibre type and polarity to existing infrastructure to ensure correct channel mapping.
